Islam

The relationship to God appears in their belief and in their acting. This means that the Muslim religion itself doesnīt just show in God-related ritual actions, but in the whole human life. The Islam shepes the immediate relationship between human beings and God, which is also called "strict Monotheism". The Muslim "human being - God" relationship is not defined by sin and salvatoin, but by repentance and forgiveness. This results in salvation thoughts, just like in Christianity. The Islam doesnīt define itself through subjection of a human being to the mighty power of God; it also doesnīt mean subordination of your will. The human beingīs job is to go back to his roots, which means he has to find the devine spark in his innermost soul and to live it.

The Islam is a religion of compassion; according to its own definition with kind-hearted words, merciful God leads all people the right guidance to a decent life.

God

The expression "Allah" consists of two parts: al(=The) and ilah(=God) which simply is the Arabian word for GOD. The Koran says that all the prophets preach about the same God/Allah. A God is according to the Koran understanding equal to the god in the Thora or in the Gospel.

Godīs relationship to his "creatures" is defined in the Muslim Conviction by two characteristic features. the compassion to which Allah, in the Koran, has obligated himself and the resulting justice.

God reveals his words, but he does not reveal himself. The whole creation regarded as a sign from God. The Koran says:"Nothing is equal to God!".

You can find God in every devout heart.

Man

For the Islam the human being is (like for Christianity and the Jewish religion) "Godīs creation" and Godīs representative on earth. Repentance and forgiveness are important in the relationship between the human beings and God. This idea has its origin in the temptation Adam and Eve yielded to in paradise. Adam is sorry for picking the apple and God forgives him.

According to the Muslim concept God accompanies man on his path through life, a fact which is often misinterpreted, in a negative way, as manīs destiny without his freedom of choice, equal to fatalism.

Muhammad didnīt preach about an "impersonal" fate, but he was convinced of the existence of a personal "Creator"-God who cares about his creatures.

In common peopleīs lives there is the word "Kismet" whose origin might date back to a time when people couldnīt find any explamatoin for events in their lives, eg. far catastrophes.

Muslim

Name for people with Islamic religion. The name Moslem ist used commonly, but incorrect languagly; also incorrect is Mohammedaner.

Koran

The Koran is the holy book of the Islam. Today itīs presumed that it contains the authentic words of God, given to Muhammad in the Arabian language word by word. Therefore it canīt be translated. Muslims think that as far as text and language are concerned the Koran is a true miracle. There are verses that can be interpreted in more than one way. Due to this fact the Islam has been able to develop into different directions. The Koran itself consists of 114 chapters called Suras, which are written in verse-form. Their length varies and the Koran is by approximately 1/3 longer than the New-Testament. The outstanding meaning of the Koran is visible in the Calligraphy the Muslim art of "beautiful writing".
