Wadi Rum, which is located 40 km east of Aqaba, is a desertscape characterized by rugged mountain ranges. With 1845 m the Omadami mountain is the highest elevation in Wadi Rum. Many inscriptions from the past were discovered, for example an inscription from the 7th century B.C., which shows a plan of the territory round Wadi Rum.

A gorge, which looks like the Siq in Petra, shows many inscriptions from the time of the "Nabataer". Besides that, the ²Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by Lawrence of Arabia are located in the Wadi Rum. The movie ²Lawrence of Arabia" was also made there. Wadi Rum serves as the habitat for many poisonous animals, among them scorpions and 5 kinds of snakes. Tracks of scorpions can often be traced on the way through the sand. The gigantic desert ants with their long legs, which help them to lift their bodies off the hot sand, are very interesting.
